As I stepped out of the car I could feel the cool breeze run through my hair, and the smell of fresh air. I was going to go on a new exploration of Bozeman Creek with my good friends Emily, Courtney, and Erin.
As we headed down the path the smell of horse manure and a dead carcass warmed by the late sun perfumed the air, and heard the soft sound of creek running over the rocks. Dogs ran by us with there owner trailing behind yelling, “hold up, don’t jump up!.” The sun began to warm my face and body, and the air began to clear as the path opened up. Then I heard a loud scream of Erin as a snake slithered across the path, as we all stopped in are tracks the snaked continued to cross. As we continued up Emily and I took a side path that lead towards the creek. Branches hit my face and legs I knew that shorts were a bad idea. We adventured farther up the creek splashing in the creek bed and discovering beautiful rocks of all colors, textures, and shapes. I discovered one that I really enjoyed that had the shape of an arrow head with red and sliver lining. As I showed it to Emily and turned my back I heard this loud splash in the water, and turned around to see it in the middle of the creek I proclaimed, “What did you that for I wanted to take it home!”. “Oh, sorry” Emily replied, “I thought you were just showing me it”. “No, I wanted to take it home.” I replied. As I threw rocks into the creek to build a path to my rock water splashed up all round me. As the first rock gave way under my foot I jumped to the next rock and slipped into the creek just to grab the rock, as I pulled it and handed to Emily who as balancing on a log above me. She yelled down to me, “Let’s get out of here you silly girl”. I climbed out of the creek and walked over the log to the shore to where Courtney and Erin were complaining about having to go on this hike and how they would never go again.
Emily and I ignored them, and kept walking as they trailed be hind us. We heard the sound the of mountain bike roaring down the trail towards us, as we jumped off the trail as quickly as possible before we were hit. As the bikes came roaring by us one almost hit me as he sided his feet in the rock and dirt. That is when we all agreed we had gone far enough, and would love to come back again another day on bike.
